Toilet Installation in Deagon
Plenty of Deagon houses date from well before 1980, and some still flush the way they were built to, which makes toilet installation in Deagon steady work for our licensed plumbers. We handle the whole swap: matching the new suite to the old drain position, connecting the supplies, and handling the QBCC paperwork. You get the full price in writing before we start.

Close-Coupled, Back-to-Wall and Wall-Hung Suites
Three builds cover nearly every suite on the market, and the difference is where the cistern sits in relation to the pan. Here is what each name means.
Close-coupled
the cistern rests directly on top of the pan, joining the two into one connected unit. The commonest type in the older local housing stock.
Back-to-wall
the pan sits flush against the wall, so the pipes behind it stay hidden.
Wall-hung
the pan is fixed to a bracket built into the wall, usually with a hidden cistern behind the flush plate.
A cistern can go in on its own, but only when the new one suits the pan already there. Where the fixing points or connections differ, the pair comes out together and a full new suite goes in.

Dual Flush, WELS Stars and Rental Limits
A dual flush cistern releases two volumes: a small half flush for liquid and a bigger full flush for solid waste. Any toilet fitted here needs WaterMark certification first, then registration under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme. The stars on the label grade how much water each flush uses.
Two sets of numbers matter, for different reasons:
New builds
the 4-star dual flush minimum applies to brand-new houses and townhouses and to individual units in apartment buildings. Business Queensland puts renovation jobs outside that rule, so an update to an older home is not forced up to it.
Rentals
the water-charging test wants a dual flush model with a full flush of 6.5 litres or less and a half flush of 3.5 litres or less. The average, taken across a full flush plus four half flushes, needs to sit at or under 4 litres.

Pan Outlets and Toilet Set-Out Explained
Set-out tells you where the waste outlet from the pan ends up, either down through the floor or back through the wall. A replacement pan drops straight onto the old drain only where its outlet meets that same mark.
The two outlet styles to know:
S-trap
the waste runs down into the floor. The usual pattern in older, low-lying streets.
P-trap
the waste runs out through the wall behind the pan.
Where a new pan's outlet misses the mark, one of two fixes applies: the drain gets altered, or a different pan gets chosen to suit. Measuring the set-out happens on the visit, not over the phone.

Suite Type, Set-Out and Access Behind the Quote
Five things shape the quote: the suite type, the outlet match, whether the loo stays put, how open the access is, and the Form 4 fee when one applies. Reaching the supply and the drain easily keeps the job simple. Shifting the fixture to a new position or altering the waste adds work.
A new or moved fixture also carries a Form 4 lodgement fee, which the licensed contractor pays and may pass on. The fixed quote settles the exact figure once we have seen the job.
Local housing shapes the work too. Census figures put 39.8 per cent of the suburb's dwellings as owned with a mortgage, and plenty more are rented out. A landlord charging water usage needs a suite that clears the flush limits, and single-flush cisterns from the pre-1980 era rarely do.
That is often what starts the upgrade talk in the weatherboard cottages near Sandgate District State High School. If the existing loo simply needs fixing rather than replacing, our toilet repairs page deals with running cisterns and leaks at the base.

Why a Toilet Swap Is Licensed Work
Queensland treats a new or moved loo in an existing building as notifiable work. No council permit applies, and Form 4 goes to the QBCC inside 10 business days of finishing.
A replacement standing in its original position is classed as minor work, done by a QBCC licensee with nothing to lodge. Altering the waste pipe counts as notifiable work in its own right.
The commission checks that forms arrive and can investigate when one is missing, and leaving one out is an offence. Owners unsure where a job sits can run it through the QBCC's notifiable work questionnaire.
The only toilet items outside the licensed system are the three cistern rubbers named on the QBCC's unregulated list. For the wider list of jobs we cover, see our tap and toilet plumbing page, or the tap replacement page when the mixers are due as well.

Toilet Installation Questions From Deagon
Call (07) 3523 7172How much does it cost to put a new toilet in?
Two things move the price most: the suite you pick, and whether its outlet sits on the old waste point or the drain needs altering in your Deagon home. Extra work such as shifting the position or tight access adds to it. The fixed quote given before we start sets the final figure.
Can I install a toilet myself in Deagon?
No, Queensland lists installing a toilet as licensed plumbing work. A home owner may only touch three cistern parts, the drop valve, float valve and suction cup rubbers, and even those small jobs still have to comply with the standards.
Does a new toilet need a Form 4?
Yes, when the loo is new to the building or has been shifted: that is notifiable work, and the form reaches the QBCC within 10 business days of completion. Replacing a suite where it stands is minor work, with nothing to lodge.
Does a landlord have to replace an old rental toilet?
No, the flush limits only decide whether a tenant can be charged for all water. Where the suite fails that test, the owner covers a fair share of the bill. Any excess reaches the tenant only on an individually metered property where the agreement allows it.
Can just the cistern be swapped on a toilet?
Yes, when the new cistern suits the fixing points and connections of the pan staying put. Where it doesn't, the pan comes out too and a matching suite goes in together.
